ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 24 -- United States Patent no. 12,582,906, issued on March 24, was assigned to Electronic Arts Inc. (Redwood City, Calif.).

"System for generating animation within a virtual environment" was invented by Elaheh Akhoundi (Vancouver, Canada).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure discloses the use of machine learning to address the process of motion synthesis and generation of intermediate poses for virtual entities. A transformer-based model can be used to generate intermediate poses for an animation based on a set of key frames."

The patent was filed on March 29, 2024, under Application No. 18/622,684.
