According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Provided is a sliding component capable of obtaining a stable low-friction effect in a wide range of conditions of use. Sliding components have sliding surfaces sliding relative to each other. A base material of the sliding component is directly coated with a thin film mainly made of graphite, the sliding surface is formed by the thin film, and the thin film contains fillers with dimensions equal to or less than the thickness of the thin film."
