ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,487,516, issued on Dec. 2, was assigned to DR. NAKAMATS INNOVATION INSTITUTE (Tokyo).

"Projected image fireworks" was invented by Yoshiro NakaMats (Setagaya-ku Tokyo, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "At fireworks shows and other venues where smoke is generated, waiting until the smoke clears before launching the next firework is a waste of time and lack of interest on the part of the spectators. This invention is a fireworks method that utilizes the smoke from fireworks to produce images by projection such as projection mapping."

The patent was filed on Jan. 26, 2021, under Application No. 17/795,623.
