US Patent Issued to DISH Wireless on June 30 for "RU/DU setup and chaining in O-RAN" (Colorado Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,672,007, issued on June 30, was assigned to DISH Wireless LLC (Littleton, Colo.).

"RU/DU setup and chaining in O-RAN" was invented by Orlando Cuavas (Littleton, Colo.) and Prakash Srinivasan (Highlands Ranch, Colo.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Various embodiments provide RU/DU/CU chaining in an O-RAN by ZTP operations automatically. The chaining creates a logical gNB for achieving flexibility in the O-RAN. In some embodiments, one or more RUs are chained to a DU in a cell site when the DU is initiated in the O-RAN.
