ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,653,648, issued on June 16, was assigned to Dentsply Sirona Inc. (York, Pa.).
"Gauge for verification of 3-d images" was invented by Jeremy E. Jo (York, Pa.) and Michael K. Caselli (York, Pa.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A verification gauge for use in improving the accuracy of a 3D scan. A bar of adjustable length has a first and second ends that can be affixed between two points of the oral-cavity. The bar is scannable and has a visual indicia thereon to verify and determine the length and relative position between the two points."
The patent was filed on Dec. 18, 2018, under Application No. 16/955,885.
