ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,634,543, issued on May 19, was assigned to CSC Holdings LLC (Bethpage, N.Y.).
"Digital video recording with remote storage" was invented by Richard W. Neill (Syosset, N.Y.), Stephanie Mitchko (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Peter Caramanica (Westbury, Conn.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Centralized storage and playback of user-recorded television programming eliminates the need for expensive DVR devices to be deployed in the field. Further, the methods used to initiate storage and provide playback of stored media respect copyright principles."
The patent was filed on March 28, 2024, under Application No. 18/620,105.
