ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,667,529, issued on June 30, was assigned to Conopco Inc. (Hoboken, N.J.).

"Preservative systems and compositions comprising the same" was invented by Jamie Lynn Miller (North Haven, Conn.) and Matthew Joseph Rienzo (Fairfield, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention is directed to a natural preservative system that comprises a substituted amino acid and with benzoic acid and/or a derivative thereof. The preservative system provides superior antimicrobial benefits and color stability to end use compositions even when the compositions are formulated to have a pH in the range of 3.5 to 8.2."
