"Methods and systems to detect rogue hotspots" was invented by Ryan Van Antwerp (Glen Mills, Pa.) and James Bradley Hein (King of Prussia, Pa.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for identifying unauthorized (e.g., rogue) access points. Authorized access points can detect the presence of rogue access points by determining signal strengths associated with other access points. A detected variance from an expected signal strength can indicate a presence of a rogue access point."
