ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,551,429, issued on Feb. 17, was assigned to Colgate-Palmolive Co. (New York).

"Oral care complexes and compositions" was invented by Qichao Ruan (Hillsborough, N.J.) and Stacey Lavender (Chesterfield, N.J.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a polyelectrolyte complex, and compositions thereof, for use in the treatment or prevention of dental caries, early erosive damage, and enamel demineralization, and the promotion of enamel repair and remineralization. This oral care composition comprises polyelectrolyte complexes comprising cationic polymers and anionic carboxylates."
