ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,296,453, issued on May 13, was assigned to Caterpillar Inc. (Peoria, Ill.).
"Hammer piston" was invented by Cody Moore (Robinson, Texas).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A piston for a hydraulic hammer of a work machine is disclosed. The piston comprises a first portion having a first diameter, a second portion having a second diameter larger than the first diameter, the second portion having a plurality of grooves, and a third portion having a third diameter less than the second diameter."
The patent was filed on April 3, 2023, under Application No. 18/130,038.
