ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,486,642, issued on Dec. 2, was assigned to Caterpillar Inc. (Peoria, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A controller may identify a reference heading for a mobile machine. The controller may receive, from a remote control device for the mobile machine, a command to actuate an implement of the mobile machine. The controller may cause actuation of the implement based on the command with respect to the reference heading for the mobile machine regardless of an actual heading of the mobile machine."
