ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,409,280, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to British American Tobacco (Investments) Ltd. (London).

"Heating smokeable material" was invented by Fozia Saleem (London).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An apparatus configured to heat smokeable material so as to volatilize at least one of its components for inhalation comprises at least one heating element on or in a substrate material."

The patent was filed on Oct. 6, 2020, under Application No. 16/948,934.
