ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,529,099, issued on Jan. 20, was assigned to Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. (Hercules, Calif.).
"Nucleotide sequence generation by barcode bead- colocalization in partitions" was invented by Ronald Lebofsky (Kensington, Calif.), Andrew Kohlway (Pleasanton, Calif.), Jennifer Chew (Sunnyvale, Calif.), Zachary Burkett (Walnut Creek, Calif.) and Man Cheng (Danville, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Comparison of common sequencing reads from sequencing based on partition-based barcoding can be used to improve sequencing results. Increased loading of barcodes per partition can also improve sequencing results."
