ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,601,673, issued on April 14, was assigned to Beckman Coulter Inc. (Brea, Calif.).
"Fixable viability dyes and their uses" was invented by Tewfik Miloud (Marseilles, France), Shankar Pattabhiraman (Chennai, India) and James Tung (Miami).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides compositions and methods useful for detecting live cells and dead cells in a cell sample. The methods rely on labelling compounds comprising a maleimide moiety linked to a label."
