ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. PP37,462, issued on June 9, was assigned to BAILEY NURSERIES INC. (Newport, Minn.).
"Diervilla plant named 'Baildierone'" was invented by Oren McBee (Bishop, Ga.), David Jonathan Roberts (Athens, Ga.) and Justin Schulze (Athens, Ga.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new cultivar of Diervilla named 'Baildierone' that is characterized by its foliage with new growth that is orange in color and changes to yellow and chartreuse, its foliage that is resistant to sun bleaching, its minimal spreading by suckering, and its cold hardiness in U.S.D.A. Zone 3."
The patent was filed on Oct. 22, 2025, under Application No. 19/366,139.
