ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,577,736, issued on March 17, was assigned to B & B Metals Inc. (Shepherdsville, Ky.).
"Tie plate collection and deposit machine" was invented by Coty T. Coots (Shepherdsville, Ky.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A tie plate collection and deposit machine collects tie plates from a railway and sorts the tie plates sequentially. The sorted tie plates are then deposited on the railway for re-installation during the maintenance procedure being performed."
