ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,600,986, issued on April 14, was assigned to Astellas Gene Therapies Inc. (South San Francisco, Calif.).

"Nucleic acid molecules containing spacers and methods of use thereof" was invented by John T. Gray (South San Francisco, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates nucleic acid molecules and concatemers containing spacer sequences useful for the efficient packaging of viral particles so as to minimize the incorporation of contaminant nucleic acids into these vectors, as well as methods of producing such viral particles."

The patent was filed on Jan. 21, 2022, under Application No. 17/581,203.
