ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,541,090, issued on Feb. 3, was assigned to ARIZONA BOARD OF REGENTS ON BEHALF OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA (Tucson, Ariz.).

"Photo-magnetically actuated deformable mirror" was invented by Ewan S. Douglas (Tucson, Ariz.) and Amit Kumar Jha (Tucson, Ariz.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In an aspect of the present invention, a new active optic is provided, namely, a photo-magnetically actuated deformable mirror (PMADM) made of a magnetic composite structure and an optical quality substrate layer. The magnetic layer is composed of Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and powdered ferromagnetic CrO2. A magnet may be used to deform the mirror surface. T...
