ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,399,095, issued on Aug. 26, was assigned to Arizona Board of Regents on Behalf of Arizona State University (Scottsdale, Ariz.).
"Reinforced mixed-mode bending apparatus" was invented by Masoud Yekani Fard (Tempe, Ariz.) and Christian Bonney (San Antonio).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A reinforced mixed-mode bending apparatus (RMMBA) is provided. The RMMBA is a new fixture design for testing fracture and characterizing delamination in layered materials under combined mode I (pulling/tension) and mode II (in-plane shear) loads. The purpose of this design is to provide a much less compliant fixture for conducting the Mixed Mode Bending (MMB...
