US Patent Issued to APOGEE LIGHTING HOLDINGS on May 12 for "Light fixture with UV disinfection" (New York Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,622,994, issued on May 12, was assigned to APOGEE LIGHTING HOLDINGS LLC (Deer Park, N.Y.).

"Light fixture with UV disinfection" was invented by Maxim S. Shatalov (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) and Michael Handerhan (New York).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A light fixture includes a housing forming a cavity to permit airflow therethrough. A filter is disposed within the airflow of the cavity. An ultraviolet light emitting diode is disposed within the cavity and is directed to concurrently treat the airflow and the filter to destroy biomaterial therein."
