ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 30 -- United States Patent no. PP37,719, issued on Sept. 29, was assigned to Amycel LLC (Watsonville, Calif.).

"Mushroom variety named 'RO10425'" was invented by Christopher W. Robles (Watsonville, Calif.) and Maykoe R. Abaunza (Memphis, Tenn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and unique brown variety of the mushroom Agaricus bisporus Imbach was produced by crossing the progeny of brown mushrooms and off-white hybrid mushrooms to bridging cross strains. The resultant hybrid, named 'RO10425', exhibits distinct and stable characteristics.
