ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 21 -- United States Patent no. 12,441,573, issued on Oct. 14, was assigned to 3M Innovative Properties Co. (St. Paul, Minn.).
"Flat wound tape article and method" was invented by Yasuo Sudo (Tokyo), Keiichiro Horikoshi (Yamagata, Japan) and Hidekuni Takano (Tokyo).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Flat wound tape article with a flat core and tape wound around the core. The article is configured so that it can help protect the edges of the tape from adhering to dirt, dust, lint, etc. while maintaining a convenient shape for use."
The patent was filed on July 30, 2020, under Application No. 17/628,316.
