"Apparatus on board machine for producing folded underwear pads" was invented by Alessandro Zavalloni (Bologna, Italy).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method for folding pads shaped as pants includes overturning a first wing and a second wing provided with a hook and loop connection by 180deg on a plane of the pad and maintaining the first wing and the second wing in that position until the pad shaped as pants is closed."
