"Training bat apparatus" was invented by Ricky Milan (Show Low, Ariz.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A training bat apparatus for training a user to swing a baseball bat with proper form includes a handle and a barrel, each of which is elongated. The handle extends through an opening into a cavity positioned at an end of the barrel, and the barrel is pivotally coupled to the handle such that the barrel is pivotable around a pivot axis extending perpendicularly through each of the barrel and the handle."
