According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A variable stroke fitness and therapy system that incorporates a pendulum bob with an external padded surface suspended from an elongated suspension system responsive to rotation of the pendulum bob to change length, the suspension system further having at least one locking mechanism constructed to selectively define at least one swing arc through which the pendulum bob may swing while suspended from the suspension system."
