According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Art paints or base materials can be manufactured from discarded materials such as architectural paint to reduce waste paint and to produce high quality art paints at a low cost and with a low ecological impact. Discarded architectural paint or other feedstock material is sorted, treated, and mixed with additives such as colorant, polymers, or monomers in a dispersion to produce a high-quality art paint.
