US Patent Issued on May 19 for "Dual tip flag" (Connecticut Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,631,115, issued on May 19.

"Dual tip flag" was invented by Brandon W. Spangler (Vernon, Conn.) and Dominic J. Mongillo Jr. (West Hartford, Conn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A turbine blade includes a platform, a root section, and an airfoil section extending from the platform to a tip. The airfoil section includes a leading edge and a trailing edge extending from the platform to the tip. A tip wall is at the tip and extends from the leading edge to the trailing edge.
