According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present device relates to a distributor system for zero-turn mowers that addresses the need for efficient granular lawn care applications, such as fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides. Attachable mechanically and electrically to a zero-turn mower, the distributor includes a granular material receptacle in conjunction with a transmission-housing shroud.
