ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,622,978, issued on May 12.

"Binding agents and uses thereof for central nervous system delivery" was invented by Steven L. Stice (Athens, Ga.) and Raymond Swetenburg (Athens, Ga.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein are binding agents, conjugates, and extracellular vesicles that enhance penetration of the blood brain barrier. Uses thereof for delivery of agents, e.g., therapeutic agents, to the central nervous system are also provided."

The patent was filed on April 27, 2021, under Application No. 17/997,346.
