According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A pool filter protection device includes a hood that is shaped to define a dome which can be placed over a housing for a pool filter. The hood has a hole extending through the hood to accommodate a pressure gauge on the housing. The hood is comprised of an opaque material to protect the housing from ultraviolet light thereby inhibiting the housing from being degraded by sunlight.
