ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,578,157, issued on March 17.
"Ammunition magazine" was invented by Kevin Philbin (Glenview, Ill.) and Scott Richard Gherardini Jr. (Hoffman Estates, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present disclosure provides ammunition magazines for bottom-loading a 5.7x28 mm ammunition round or a 4.6x30 mm ammunition round into a standard AR-15 or M16 upper receiver."
The patent was filed on Oct. 13, 2021, under Application No. 17/500,752.
