"Reader and page guide" was invented by Travis Martin (Huntington Station, N.Y.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a reading guide to help mark a place on a text or illustration of a page or sheet. The device features a plurality of pieces including two similar small size supporting pieces and a sliding bar. The sliding bar is releasably attached to the two supporting pieces that are positioned on top edge and bottom edge of a page. The sliding bar has an indicator allowing an individual to slide the indicator to a desired position on the page the reader is currently on."
