According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The new and distinct cultivar of Penstemon plant named 'Lavender Sapphires' with strictly upright, tightly compact strong stems in a rounded mound, and numerous flowers with a purplish-lavender color with bluish tips flowering for about four weeks beginning in early summer and repeating in autumn if deadheaded.
