ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 14 -- United States Patent no. 12,677,970, issued on July 14.

"Garment hanger" was invented by George R. Gillette (Arlington, Va.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A garment hanger has a central base extending between opposing first and second ends. A hook extends from the upper surface of the central base and wing sections are connected to the first and second ends of the central base. Rods for supporting belt loops of a garment extend substantially parallel and coextensively from the central base and wing sections."

The patent was filed on Feb. 21, 2025, under Application No. 19/059,576.
