According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A molded plastic bassinet body holds a bedding structure on a horizontal molded-in shelf above a stepped-in lower body portion wherein the bedding structure is formed of two spaced apart parallel layers of open weave material such that an infant placed upon the bedding structure and laying in a face down position can breathe through the bedding structure.
