According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A torsional vibration damper has a hub part (primary mass) that is able to be fastened to a driveshaft of a motor, and an inertia ring (secondary mass) that surrounds the hub part in the radially outer region, wherein a fluid-filled gap and sealing devices, by which the escape of the fluid is intended to be avoided, are provided between the hub part and inertia ring.
