ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,504,735, issued on Dec. 23.

"Z-axis setting tool" was invented by Daniel J. Marcej (Mount Pleasant, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A Z-axis setting tool is a Z-axis calibration device for a CNC machine. The setting tool has an indicator light that is triggered when a cutting tool reaches a certain and specific depth. The device is activated by a precision switch which illuminates an LED indicator light when placed between the material to be machined and the cutting tool."

The patent was filed on Nov. 16, 2022, under Application No. 17/988,040.
