ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,503,210, issued on Dec. 23.
"Paddle with nonlinear shaft" was invented by Shane Chen (Camas, Wash.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A paddle for propelling a watercraft that has a nonlinear shaft which allows the paddle blade to be positioned underneath the watercraft and brought very close to, or directly under, the centerline of the craft. This has advantages in efficiency of propulsion and speed of forward travel by greatly reducing unwanted yaw and lateral travel."
The patent was filed on June 23, 2023, under Application No. 18/213,796.
