"Tree guard assembly" was invented by Renee Forde (Argusville, N.D.) and Daryl Ruter (Clear Lake, Iowa).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A tree guard assembly includes a plurality of corner sections, each corner section including a first wall with a first flange comprising at least one flange aperture, the first wall includes an opening configuration pattern and a second wall with a second flange including at least one flange aperture, the second wall meets the first wall at a corner."
