ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 7 -- United States Patent no. 12,596,228, issued on April 7.

"MEMS-driven optical package with micro-LED array" was invented by Matthew E. Ward (Philadelphia) and Jeremy Hochman (Walnut, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An optical light package includes an optical output lens, an optical filter located thereunder and between the output lens and LEDS, a tray of LEDs arrayed on a stage mounted on a linear comb based MEMS device that is distributed in such a way that the stage is movable, and a driver that controls movement of the stage."

The patent was filed on March 2, 2023, under Application No. 18/177,523.
