"Free weight with rotating handle" was invented by Thomas Lower (Victor, Idaho).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An exercise apparatus including an outer handle, a rod arranged to rotate within the outer handle, a first weight plate with an opening at an upper region, and a second weight plate with an opening at an upper region, where the first weight plate is attached to the rod by a first bolt and the second weight plate is attached to the rod by a second bolt."
The patent was filed on April 9, 2024, under Application No. 18/630,724.
