According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A therapeutic device used for monitoring a wound includes an external layer impermeable to gas and moisture with a periphery that adheres to a user's skin about the wound and an internal layer with a periphery adhered to the external layer creating a gaseous reservoir between the external and internal layers.
