ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 15 -- United States Patent no. 12,600,751, issued on April 14.
"Modified S2 subunit of the coronavirus spike protein" was invented by Annika Kraemer-Kuehl (Seesen, Germany) and Thomas Min Stephan (Hannover, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A recombinant avian coronavirus spike protein or fragment thereof includes a mutation at amino acid position 865. An immunogenic composition includes an avian coronavirus with such spike protein."
The patent was filed on May 6, 2020, under Application No. 17/595,124.
