UMAINE TO PRODUCE NEIGHBORHOOD OF 3D-PRINTED HOMES AS IT SCALES BIOHOME TECHNOLOGY

ORONO, Maine, Aug. 26 -- University of Maine issued the following news release:

Maine needs more homes. University of Maine researchers are working on a way to build them faster and more efficiently.

Four years after unveiling the world's first fully bio-based, 3D-printed house, UMaine's Advanced Structures and Composites Center is partnering with Penquis, a Maine-based nonprofit, to produce up to nine homes in the Greater Bangor area.

The homes will be built in three stages, allowing researchers to test each round, make adjustments and apply those lessons to the next.
