UVA soccer alumnus Leo Afonso's professional path includes a memorable two seasons in Miami alongside the legendary Lionel Messi. An eight-time Ballon d'Or winner - given annually to the world's best player - Messi's World Cup career likely ended Sunday with Argentina's loss to Spain in the tournament's championship game.
