NASHVILLE, Tenn., April 13 -- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued the following news release:
At the request of 16th Judicial District Attorney General Jennings Jones, TBI agents are investigating the circumstances leading to an officer-involved use of force incident that occurred Saturday afternoon in Smyrna.
Preliminary information indicates that officers with the Smyrna Police Department responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of North Lowry Street in Smyrna. When officers arrived, Christopher Jones (DOB 1/25/67) fled the scene. For reasons still under investigation, the situation escalated and an officer deployed a non-lethal weapon, striking Jones.
