Today, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) released the following statement after President Donald Trump notified (https://www.politico.com/news/2026/05/01/trump-congress-war-terminated-00902681) Congress that the war in Iran has been "terminated."
This comes after Senator Schiff forced a vote on his War Powers Resolution to withdraw U.S. forces as the statutory clock ran out on the President's use of military force, consistent with the 60-day mark laid out in War Powers Act of 1973.
The War Powers Act clearly states: "Within 60 calendar days after a report is submitted...the President shall terminate any use of United States Armed Forces..."
