TheSouthernIllinois University EdwardsvilleArcheology Field Schoolcontinues its exploration and uncovering of interesting discoveries at theGehring site. Thesite is an importantarchaeological locationsituated on the campusbetween Cahokia Creek and the bluffs,approximately 10 milesnorth of Cahokia Mounds.

The siteissignificantforits use fromtheLateArchaic (3000-1000 BC)through historic times, with the most intensive occupation during the Middle Woodland period,about 2,000 years ago and the Mississippian period,circa900-800years ago.
