Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement after President Donald Trump announced plans to bypass Congress and sign an Executive Order to preempt state regulation of artificial intelligence (AI). Trump's announcement comes after the release of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026, which excludes language preempting state regulation of AI.
