Today, Senator Andy Kim (D-NJ) released the following statement in response to the announcement that workers will be forced to stop construction on the Gateway Project starting February 6th (https://newjerseyglobe.com/governor/gateway-to-shutter-in-10-days-after-trump-funding-freeze/) due to lack of funds (https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/27/nyregion/hudson-tunnel-gateway-funding.html). This comes after the Trump Administration halted roughly $12 billion in federal funding that had been previously allocated to ensure completion of this project by 2035, bringing upgraded transit infrastructure and thousands of jobs to New Jersey.
